LOCAL AREA

Carmarthenshire offers a wide and varied countryside,
full of myths and legends. It has strong links with Merlin the
Wizard, whilst Llandovery has an excellent interpretive centre
on ‘Twm Sion Cati’ – the Welsh Robin Hood. For the keen
gardeners enjoy the colour of Aberglasney, -‘A Garden lost
in time’ and the impressive great single span glass house
at the Botanical Garden of Wales.

The ancient township of Laugharne
is only a few minutes drive away
with its castle and famous
boathouse – the inspirational
home of poet Dylan Thomas.

Carmarthenshire has something to interest everyone, from rugged castles to sandy beaches,
from steam train rides to traditional farmers markets.

The Pembrokeshire coast is a 30 minute drive from Glascoed, with its breathtaking views along its
coastal path. Enjoy the British coastline at its best with views of rocky coves, sandy beaches,
small islands and a profusion of wildlife including seals and puffins.

Make a pilgrimage to St Davids, the smallest city in the UK. The cathedral is the final resting
place of St David, the country’s patron saint. Also visit the popular coastal tourist
destinations of Tenby & Saundersfoot.

For a sense of adventure, there is plenty on offer varying
from motor racing at Pembray, mountain bike riding trails
at Brechfa, and a day out at the new Ffos Las racecourse.

Salmon fishing on the river Towy and Taf, and a game of golf can be arranged at a choice
of courses nearby. Horse riding on the beach or kayaking on the river Teifi under the shadow
of Cilgerran Castle are a few suggestions for memorable days out during your stay.
